Dried Figs

Home   >   Harvest   >   Dried Figs

Figs were one of the first plants to be cultivated by humans and still carry today a symbolic importance in the history of several civilisations. Today, dried figs are mostly grown in the mountains surrounding Aydın and Izmir. The harvest lasts for about a month’s time as the maturing fruit dry on trees before dropping onto nets from where growers collect and place them in drying tunnels to preserve them from rain and complete the drying process.
